Slightly off-topic, however;

I thought some of you on the LIST might like to know that Octavia Butler has
died, sadly in a sort of freak accident.

I have taught some of her novels on several occasions, particularly DAWN and
PARABLE OF THE SOWER, which I am teaching in a few weeks in my 20th-c.
American literature class.

Butler, 58, died after falling and striking her head Friday on a walkway
outside her home in Lake Forest Park [Seattle].
