Second Annual Conference 
University of Bologna, 27 February - 1 March 1998 
 
CALL FOR PAPERS 
 
ESHET 1998 
 
The second annual Conference of the European Society for the History of 
Economic Thought will be hosted by the University of Bologna, 27th 
February-1st March 1998. The Conference will take place at the Conference 
Halls of San Giovanni in Monte (a Renaissance precinct recently restored by 
the University in the old city centre of Bologna) and at the Faculty of 
Economics, located within walking distance and also in the old city centre. 
The thematic part of the Conference will be on 'Institutions, Markets and 
the Division of Labour'. It is expected that it will take place at San 
Giovanni in Monte. The parallel open sessions will be hosted by the Faculty 
of Economics. One or two sessions specially devoted to economic methodology 
will be hosted by the Bologna Academy of Sciences (founded in 1714).

Further information about the Conference may be obtained from the 
Organizing Secretary Ms. Bruna Bordoni at the above address, fax, telephone 
and e-mail. Proposals should include a title, a summary (maximum 500 words) 
and full details on the author, including telephone, fax and E-mail 
addresses. They must be submitted not later than June 15, 1997. Notice of 
acceptance of the papers will be sent by August 15, 1997. The final drafts 
of the accepted papers must arrive by October 15, 1997, i.e. in good time 
to allow circulation to discussants and to participants. 
 
Sessions may be proposed. Each session is expected to include three papers.

The Bologna 1998 ESHET Conference is arranged by the European Society for 
the History of Economic Thought. Scholars responsible for its organization 
include the President of the Society (Luigi Pasinetti) , the Members of the 
Executive Committee (Andrew Skinner, Richard Arena, Riccardo Faucci, Harald 
Hagemann, Heinz Kurz, Pier Luigi Porta), the Members of the Council 
(Bertram Schefold, Walter Eltis, Pascal Bridel, Jean Cartelier, Pierre 
Dockes, Andre Lapidus, Cristina Marcuzzo, Steve Rankin, Heinz Rieter, 
Christian Schmidt, Ian Steedman, Erich Streissler, Gianni Vaggi, Jan van 
Daal, Donald Winch, Stefano Zamagni) and Roberto Scazzieri as Conference
