In Hume's Abstract of a Treatise of Human Nature, reprinted with an 
introduction by Keynes and Piero Sraffa, we find on p. 14, "whatever we 
conceive is possible, at least in a metaphysical sense: but wherever a 
demonstration takes place, the contrary is impossible and implies a 
contradiction".
