In the case of the individual agent's demand, the price is  
the independent variable and should go on the horizontal  
axis.  Individuals are quantity adjusters.  In the case of   
market demand price is determined by the qantity   
adjustments of all the individuals, so price is the   
determined variable, and should be on the verticle axis.  
Thus the market works without external interference.
