I heard today from his sister that Charles Parrish Blitch (b.1925) died
at his home in Statesboro, Georgia on July 22.

Several HES members will remember Charles for his long-standing interest
(actively continued up to his death) in the work of Allyn Young and for
his illuminating biography, _Allyn Abbott Young: The Peripatetic
Economist_ (Macmillan 1995).

A graduate of Georgia Southern University, Emory University and the
University of North Carolina, he taught at The Old Dominion University,
Norfolk, Va from 1966-90.

In 1943, aged 18, he joined the Army 5th Air Force, serving as a
navigator in the South Pacific Theater until 1946. He was a very fine
fellow.
