Your memory is correct. Jim took down boondocksnet — his initial site
devoted to his anti-imperialism research. He then had a site devoted to
historical editorial cartoons. As I understood from Jim’s battle with
internet archive dot org, they had his boondocks files and agreed they
would only make them available if some researcher visited their offices in
person — in San Francisco, I think. I have a lot of correspondence with
Jim in my files discussing his battles with the internet pirates — back in
the days when the internet was like the Wild West.
