 Call for applicantsHousing Connections
Is looking for Volunteers for Internal Review PanelsBackgroundHousing Connections is a subsidiary of Toronto Community Housing responsible for maintaining a centralized waiting list for rent-geared-to-income housing and rent supplement administration. According to the Social Housing Reform Act (SHRA), before our staff can make a decision that is adverse to a household member(s), the household is entitled to a review of the decision.  This review provides households with an Opportunity to Comment on information received by Housing Connections and the opportunity for an Internal Review of the decision making process.  Housing Connections is responsible for the management and administration of Internal Review Panels.  Selected panelists will enter into a contractual arrangement with the Housing Connections Board of Directors to perform the Internal Review function.  The term of contract will include a payment of $20 per session to cover travel, parking and meal expenses.  Prospective panellists should have an understanding of the SHRA and of housing policies in the City of Toronto or they should be willing to learn.  Selected panellists will partake in orientation and training before beginning their role as an Internal Review Panellist.Role and Responsibilities of Panelists:
·    Commit to being a member of a panel and attend pre-scheduled panel dates ·    Be available as an alternate according to a pre-arranged schedule·    Rule on decisions·    Select a Chair who will sign the decision letter ·    Declare conflict of interest where appropriate and maintain confidentiality ·    Consult with Housing Connections staff if supporting documents are not clear·    Follow procedural checklist to review materials, dates and timeframes·    Raise systemic issues·    Assist in/comment on performance and statistical reporting to Housing Connections Board
