Von Liebig was quoted by Marx who, in my view could be counted among the   
environnementalists. This point is developped in a paper coauthored with   
Ms Ferrari and H. Hanusch (Augsburg University, prepared for the   
Georgescu-Roegen Conference, Strasbourg, November 1998
