Openings for two tenure track positions at the assistant professor level in
the Economics Department starting July 1, 1999. We will consider strong
candidates in all fields, though preference will be given to candidates
with research specialties in the fields listed above. Applicants should be
committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching and scholarly research.
The successful candidates will be prepared to teach upperclass courses in
at least one other field in addition to their research specialty and to
contribute to our introductory program. The teaching load is two courses
per semester.

Wesleyan has a strong and diverse undergraduate student body and offers
both a generous sabbatical program and competitive salaries. Wesleyan is
an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer. Minorities and women
are especially encouraged to apply.

Each applicant should send a letter of interest, curriculum vita, three
letters of recommendation, and a copy of either a dissertation chapter or a
sample of other scholarly writing. Application files that are not complete
by December 10, 1998 may not receive full consideration. CONTACT: Richard
