Now that the discussion has turned to Menger, it's worth noting his   
significance not only for von Mises, but also for Commons, who in   
Institutional Economics explicitly takes Menger for the source of his   
theory, which in effect (60 years late) proves Menger was right in   
offering his principles to Roscher as the theory the historical   
school needed--even if Schmoller was blind to the fact.
