Information on James Mavor is contained in Ian M.Drummond,  
Political Economy at the University of Toronto: A History of the  
Department,1888-1982.  Published by the Faculty of Arts and Science,  
University of Toronto: 1983, pp.26-52. ISBN 0-7727-7300-9   
 
Mavor was a Scot who attended the University of Glasgow, but who  
did not complete his degree there due to illness. He followed Ashley in  
the Chair at Toronto.
