 To all Conference Delegates,
ESAO 2005 Health and Safety Conference:

ESAO regrets to announce that the 2005 Health and Safety Conference,
scheduled for May 30 - June 3, 2005, has been cancelled.

After a long and difficult review, we have concluded that the current level
of financial uncertainty facing ESAO makes it impossible to guarantee that
we can provide the kind of Conference in 2005 that our delegates have come
to expect. This was a tough call, and we tried to balance the long term
goals of the Association against the impact of canceling what has become an
important annual event in the education sector. We made this decision on
February 1, and have been busy contacting those directly involved with the
2005 Conference, speakers and exhibitors, as well as our own Board and
staff.

To those who had planned to attend the Conference, we offer our apologies
for any inconvenience this decision may cause. A special note about
Professional Development sessions - for those registered in the WHIMIS
Train-the-Trainer course, scheduled for May 30 and 31, our intent is to
offer this course as scheduled. For those interested in any of the other PD
sessions, please e-mail us as soon as possible, and we will determine if
there is sufficient interest to look into providing them.

Looking to the future, our challenge now is to determine how best to use
the time and resources that would have been invested in the Conference to
meet the needs of our education sector clients across the province, many of
whom have never been able to attend this event. We have a number of ideas,
and we are sure that many of you may have some suggestions.

To those who were regular Conference delegates, we extend our appreciation
for your support, and we hope that we have left you with some excellent
memories. We will miss seeing all of you, but we are committed to
continuing to find better ways to support you in your efforts to make all
education sector workplaces safer. Please keep in touch, and please let us
know how we can continue to work with you.
