Greetings to all,
Over the last few months, the issue of a new office location for the AAO has created quite a stir within the membership. The Board has listened closely to our members' concerns and comments and I wish to thank each and every member that contacted the Board about this issue. In doing so, I am please to announce that the Board has decided to acquire cheaper office space in Toronto. The new office will be located on the second floor of an Ontario Heritage Trust property known as Ashbridge House. The house was built in 1854 according to a design by Joseph Sheard, architect and Toronto mayor (1871-72) for Jesse Ashbridge and his family. The property was donated to the Ontario Heritage Trust in 1972 by the remaining Ashbridge descendants and includes parking in the back, a large board room and a communal kitchen for all the tenants. In addition, the grounds are quite extensive and the Board is hoping to have an open house/tea on the lawns in the spring. For more information regarding the history of the house (as well as a photograph of the building) please see the following web site: http://www.heritagefdn.on.ca/userfiles/HTML/nts_1_7798_1.html
With all that said, effective November 1st of this year, all correspondence for the Archives Association of Ontario should be directed to our new address:
