This is just a reminder that the City of Toronto Archives
and the Toronto Area Archivists' Group are hosting an
Archives in Your Attic Day at 255 Spadina Rd. from
10 am to 4 pm this Saturday, April 17th.
For this event, the public is welcome to bring
in their own archival documents (ie. photographs, family
papers, maps etc.) and receive advice from archivists
and conservators with respect to the identification, care,
handling and proper storage of the items. Yes, similar to
the Antiques Roadshow, but with archival documents
rather than artifacts, and no monetary appraisal.
Members from the genealogical community, the
Ontario Historical Society, and the Societe d'histoire de
Toronto will also be on hand to provide information and
answer general questions about their organisations. The conservation lab of the City of Toronto Archives will also
be open, and will include displays on archival conservation
work. Archival films will be showing in the theatre
throughout the day, and Clifford Duxbury-Collier and Sharon Murphy will be giving talks on conducting genealogical research.
All are welcome. Please come and join us if you are in the Greater Toronto Area.
Thanks,
Bob Anger
