If I recall correctly, Kindleberger's International Economics changed over the course of
several editions from being by just Kindleberger to Kindleberger and Lindert to Lindert
and Kindleberger to just Lindert. However, these changes were all made while Kindleberger
was alive, and my impression from his memoirs was that the changes in authorship were
based on his opinion about how much of the current edition was his writing. The tenth
edition (1996) was by Lindert and Pugel, and the preface concluded: "Finally, we are
pleased to pay our respects once again to Charles P. Kindleberger, the author of the first
five editions of this Irwin textbook."

Jeremy Atack and Peter Passell, A New Economic View of American History (second ed., 1994)
is a revision of a 1979 first edition by Susan Previant Lee and Peter Passell, as noted on
the copyright page and in the first sentence of the
preface. The acknowledgements are signed by Atack alone, do not mention Lee or Passell,
and are in the first person singular except for one mention of "the authors" in the third
paragraph.
