Thought those of you away from the midwest may still be curious
about the Twain Home and Museum in Hannibal, since the national
press is intent on force feeding only disaster stories about the
raging Mississippi and Missouri Rivers. Since Hannibal's
forefathers (forepersons?) had the knowledge to respect the power
of the Great Brown River God they built a levy of major proportions
to protect the downtown area. It is still safe and holding, though
it is receiving its greatest test to date. Local papers tell of
the great loss of tourism for the summer, however. I will keep
members on the list posted.
