SMITH IN GLASGOW 09

CALL FOR PAPERS


To mark the 250th anniversary of the publication of the Theory of Moral
Sentiments, the University of Glasgow, where Smith
was both student and professor, will host a prestigious Conference under the
auspices of the University and the Faculty of Law Business and Social Sciences?
Adam Smith Research Foundation [www.gla.ac.uk/asrf].

The Conference will be held between March 31st and April 2nd
2009. Recognising the breadth of Smith?s interests and range of his work at Glasgow, the Conference will be organised along four
themes: Smith, Scotland and the Enlightenment;
Smith and Culture, Literature and the Arts; Smith and Philosophy and Smith and
the Social Sciences. Each theme will have a plenary lecture and a series of up
to four workshops/seminars. See the draft programme below. 
 
Anyone interested in presenting a paper at one of the seminars should 
send an Abstract of no more than 1500 words, indicating which of the 
four Themes best accommodates its subject-matter, to Chris Berry 
[[log in to unmask]] before 1 April 2008.
