To be bees or not to be bees 
 
I agree with Ross and others that as individuals or as a group it may be 
privately optimal (with respect to the quality of our historical 
scholarship) for us to mix more with history departments; I also suspect 
that it would be socially sub-optimal for us to be liquidated from 
economics departments.  The beneficial externalities of historians 
pollenating economists are potentially large.
