Dear Group:
I know that is a strange subject line, but in dealing with the letters of
Susie to Louise, are we being too invasive here? No matter how public a
figure Twain might have been, are there not details that really ought to be
kept private and respected? I profoundly state that I mean no affront to
anyone, but if Susie had a lesbian relationship, let us respect her privacy.
In divulging these letters, are we proving that lesbianism is respectable?
Personally, I do not care whether a person is black or white, tall or short,
able-bodied or disabled, or straight or gay. I try to love and accept
people for who they are.
