Dear Mason:

I see what you mean.  But the shift to accepting  obsolescence, instead 
of mercantilist and medieval protection, is a big one in what JAS called 
the shift to a business dominated civilization.  don't think it was 
originally Schumpeter's: he acknowledged I believe that the phrase was 
Sombart's.
