Folks;
In 1879, Twain and Thomas Beecher came up with an idea for building a
monument to Adam. Twain published an article about this episode in 1905,
the same time he was writing "Refuge of the Derelict."
I was wondering if any LIST-members were aware of any detailed critical
work regarding Twain's brief desire to build such a monument? I am aware
of numerous materials about Twain's use of the Adam metaphor, by the likes
of Ensor, Wilson, Brodwin, McCullough, Baetzhold, et al.; I am curious to
discover any materials primarily about the monument project.
thanks for your consideration,
