Isn't the amazement of travel going to some place and getting all the
diverse
reactions that people get?

Guess you pretty much get what you look for when you travel.

Like the old time walled city...and a man walks up to the gate guard and
asks
about the city...Well, the guard said, what was the last place you lived in
like? People were grouchy, grumpy, etc. Well, that is pretty much what
they
are like here...And the man
moved on.

Later that day, the same event was repeated...same questions...answer: The
people where I used to live were phenomenal. They would give you the shirt
off their
back, etc. Come right in, declared the guard...The people here are the same
way...

(Please excuse the lack of quotation marks...)

A trip to a historical place can contain a little piece of whimsey...or
magic...but we
have to let it happen....
