I know nothing about the creation of Edison's movies, but I found it curious
that Sam, Clara, and Jean, all three, drank their tea using their left hands
to lift the cups.

Is the image reversed? Was it culturally chic to drink tea like a leftie? I
have not heard that left-handedness ran in the family.
