Hello all,

Some years ago, there has been a case of plagiarism (so I believe) in
Turkey. It was a direct translation (with all page format and
settings etc.) of a famous English textbook into Turkish. Even a typo
in the original book was taken directly. The person who did this put
his own name to the book without mentioning the original author ((and
even more amusingly, the cover image itself was taken from another
famous English textbook). He was then appointed to full professorship
(he still is); even though everyone knows about the incident (it
appeared on a national newspaper as well) , nobody has (to my
knowledge at least) taken any action. Interestingly enough, the
original author also knew about the incident; but he did not care. If
the original author does not care about it, who will?

Best,

Huseyin Ozel
