----------------- HES POSTING -----------------
Jim Thomas at the LSE has asked me to post the following two questions:
1. The original chair in Political Economy at Oxford University was the
Drummond Chair. Why was it called the 'Drummond' Chair?
2. Murray Milgate states in a piece on Economists at Queens's College that
Thomas Perronet Thompson's plan to teach Political Economy at Cambridge did
not work out and that "the first regular lectures on political economy were
instead given by George Pryme (Trinity) in 1816". Pryme was later to become
Professor of Political Economy at Cambridge, but I have been unable to
discover the dates during which he held the chair. Anyone know the dates?
