In response to Hal's willingness to be blunt, I will share a snippet from
the comment I posted on the amazon customer reviews page for this book:

One might question his motives and judgment related to quoting possibly
defamatory and derogatory personal letters between living scholars without
their permission. I have had a hard time deciding if Fulton just lacked the
moral courage to personally interview the people he needed to interview who
could have provided a wealth of insight and historical perspective or
whether he simply lacked the necessary drive and curiosity to get their
story straight. Fulton took an unnecessary legal risk and gambled that he
could pull off something sensational. I think he simply shot himself in the
foot.
