Scott -- there is relatively new research tool for searching across
multiple free access historical newspaper databases (including the DAILY
ALTA)  from a single search engine  at:

It is maintained by the company that creates the databases for the
libraries who own the original newspapers. It might be of help to you in
finding copies of those original newspaper articles.
