Dear Peter,
          I'd be interested in reading that Moreland article. Where exactly
is it at again?
          Also, I have been working on a paper that does not concern Twain's
inflluencing someone else, but it asserts that Twain was influenced in
direct ways by a particularly rustic slave narrative. Shelley Fisher Fishkin
has done work connecting Huck Finn to Douglass's narrative; I'd like to
think
that my research is an answer to her call. I think it's convincing, but if
you
would like to take a look at it, I'll send you a copy.
