Hi Clay,
You will find the answers to your questions and so much more about Quarry Farm in Mark Twain in Elmira, Second Edition, 2013, Elmira College Center for Mark Twain Studies. It includes an article on the cats. Also, there is information about the unique house-staff at the Farm, including the cook, Mary Ann Cord, the subject of A True Story Repeated Word for Word as I Heard It, and John T. Lewis, a fast friend of Mark Twain and a family hero. Hope this is helpful. Happy reading. Gretchen Sharlow
