If the "partner" is physically nearby, there may be other explanations, such as you picking up on "signals" they are sending, even though they may not know they are sending them, and you are not aware of exactly what those signals are or how you are receiving them: perhaps subsonic sounds that you can "hear" on some level, or infrared or ultraviolet waves that you can "see" on some level, or smells that you don't consciously perceive, etc.
I think everybody has had the experience of "feeling" that somebody is watching them, turning around, and seeing a person staring right at them, from the precise spot at which you looked on turning around. We are *somehow* picking up on *something* in those instances...but what?
