Another African-American Twainian, also likely on this list, is David Lionel
Smith, a veteran as well of Twain documentary treatments.  Two of his essays
are "Huck, Jim, and American Racial Discourse" in *Mark Twain Journal, which
has been reprinted in Mark Twain: A Collection of Critical Essays*, edited
by Eric Sundquist, and "Black Critics and Mark Twain," found in *The
Cambridge Companion to Mark Twain, *edited by Forrest Robinson*.*
