Everett Emerson's recent post concerning Robert Gale's "Plots and
Characters in the Works of Mark Twain" was enlightening for me. I had not
been aware of this book until his post and am just a little embarrassed
over the fact, but I'll get over it.

One other title comes to mind while we are on this subject. Gribben's "Mark
Twain's Library: A Reconstruction" offers a great look at what Twain read
during most of his life.
