Typewriters were not used by Mark Twain until the mid 1870's.  I think
Twain's December 9th1874 letter to Orion was the first time he ever used one
(see Mark Twain Himself page 192).  Perhaps the typewriter in this
circumstance is being confused with the desk Twain used in the 1860's while
in V city, or with the printing press which was used then?  There was no
typewriter in the Enterprise when Samuel Clemens worked there.
