I find it hard to imagine how Mark Twain scholarship/appreciation has gotten to 2016 without there being such a set of awards in place already, but if not, here are some more ideas. Setting aside all the challenging and inevitably expensive practicalities such as who will judge and decide the winners; where will the inevitably necessary funding will come from; the possibility of collaborative sponsorship of several institutions, organizations, or agencies; and all that boring procedural stuff, the following additional awards seem potentially helpful:
Best graduate thesis or dissertation relating to Mark Twain
Best film documentary
Best fictional portrayal: article/book/other print or perhaps even digital media
Best fictional portrayal: film
Best juvenile book
Sounds like a fun idea for most of us, and a lot of work for a sainted few.
