How many public intellectuals dividuals are people who went out on a
limb, risking
ostracism, before they had already ensured that they enjoyed a secure
position?

How many public individuals were funded and supported by powerful
interest groups?

Ok, or George Soros?

Or are public intellectuals public relations entrepreneurs?
