For the record, the U.of Chicago Press engagement calendar for academic
year 1980-81compiled by George Stigler and Claire Friedland lists
Adam Smith's baptismal date as June 5, 1723. Apparently they went with the
old style Julian Calendar. Maybe this is because they couldn't pass up the
coincidence that John Maynard Keynes' birthday, was also
on June 5 (1883), though this latter date was presumably with the new
style calendar.
