I wonder how real the Chinese influence was.  I know that the 
Physiocrats were interested in missionaries' reports & had a few 
Chinese students sent to Paris, but in Quesnay's writings he used 
China as a ruse -- to say that the Chinese had good policies rather 
than criticizing those of the king.
