As to 'Dogmengeschichte': D. H. Robertson seems to have liked the original expression, as he frequently used the word in correspondence with Harrod (and perhaps others): see e.g. here http://economia.unipv.it/harrod/edition/editionstuff/rfh.2c8.htm and here http://economia.unipv.it/harrod/edition/editionstuff/rfh.20e.htm. I know, this doesn't help, but sometimes original expressions in other languages may deserve to be preserved …
