Dear Group:
Personally, I've always perceived Olivia Clemens as the very "glue" that
held Twain together, and after her death, he found himself a man totally
unable to control the path of his life. I have however heard it said that
Livy was to some extent the very person who caused Mark so much difficulty.
In attempting to satisfy her lavish lifestyle, Twain was pushed to earn a
great deal of money and to earn it quickly. As I deeply admire livy, I
firmly believe that though she was used to the very best materially, she was
a person who had the strength of character to accommodate herself to a lower
standard of living. What are your thoughts on this? Is anyone on this list
writing a biography of Olivia Clemens.
The lover of Livy,
Camy
