An economist would appreciate Keynes's Essays in Biography, many of 
which deal with leading figures in HET. As to readability -- Keynes was 
one of the great masters of English prose in the 20th C.  Paul 
Samuelson's numerous essays and articles are always illuminating and 
often brilliant. Steve Medema and I have edited a selection for CUP 
which is now in press.
