Kathy Farretta asked for the citation of my previous reference to a Jewish
biography of Emperor Norton I.

The title is _Emperor Norton of San Francisco_ (1974), a monograph by
Professor William M. Kramer, California State University.

I have found the book at The Jewish Community Library in the Jewish Bureau
of
Education at 15th Avenue and Balboa Streets in San Francisco (94118).

The work is summarized and cited in William Drury's biography of Norton,
_Norton I, Emperor of the United States_. Drury states that it is the only
work  which does not treat Norton as a clown.
