The Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL) Information
Resources committee has formed subcommittees to investigate the
indexing and archiving of electronic government documents, with a view
to creating a shared provincial repository. There are two
subcommittees: one focusing on federal and provincial documents, and
one focusing on municipal documents. Given the importance of finding
permanent storage and access solutions for electronic government
documents, it is crucial to work with as many partners and stakeholders
as possible as this project proceeds.

The municipal electronic government document subcommittee would like to
hear from libraries, archives, records managers, municipalities,
provincial associations – or anyone who has an interest in preservation
and access to municipal documents – regarding current initiatives,
suggestions for contacts, recommended courses of action or anything
else that will give us a more complete picture of the current state of
affairs.

Our timeline is tight and we hope to present recommendations at an OCUL-
IR meeting on April 19th so please respond as soon as you can. On
behalf of the municipal electronic government document subcommittee,
thank you for sharing your thoughts!

Please send your comments to the chair of the committee, Donna Bourne-
Tyson, at: [log in to unmask]
