----------------- HES POSTING -----------------
Dear HES colleagues,
Is it true that the first published use of the term CREATIVE
DESTRUCTION was by Joseph A. Schumpeter in the first edition of
his book "Capitalism, Socialism and Democracy" published in
1942?
Having returned to the list after at least a year away, I guess I
should briefly re-introduce myself. I'm a Professor of Planning at
the State University of New York at Albany, and unlike most
planners who focus solely on local land-use, urban design and
economic development issues, I have a broader interest in regional,
national and international development and in "the idea of planning"
-- how and why some folks think that it's possible to develop a
coherent strategy to generate growth and development, and to
make a country, a region or a locality into a better place.
