Besides the published works you mention, Twain contemplated writing a book
about England and began researching it before deciding not to after his
visit in 1872-3 when he was feted. I have a English history chronology given
to him by Livy probably in connection with that aborted project, as well as
a few other books from his library that were source books for P&P, 1601, and
HF. I have Twain's own copy of the first edition of P&P but it has no
textual alterations. I have a lot of other material as well. The book
suggested by Hal Bush is excellent, and I'd add to that suggestion Dennis
Welland's MARK TWAIN IN ENGLAND (1978). I don't know of any extended
discussion of Twain's aborted English book, but it is mentioned briefly in
several places --the MTP footnotes in LETTERS, probably Paine, and
elsewhere. I don't think any manuscript fragments or outlines of that
project survive and it's possible it never got that far along.
