A quick response to Scott on Boulding and the IRR:   
 
I don't know the origins of PV analysis and the IRR, but certainly it is not Boulding's.  
Knight also used it in his capital theory, in articles written at the same time as the  
interchange we are discussing. Doesn't Irving Fisher also use it?
