Dear Julian,

A belated (and immodest) suggestion for your work on the future of 
the capitalist system: have a look at M.C. Howard and J.E. King, THE 
RISE OF NEOLIBERALISM IN ADVANCED CAPITALIST ECONOMIES: A MATERIALIST 
INTERPRETATION (Palgrave Macmillan 2008). Chapter 8 is devoted to 
this question.
