RE: Rosser's query on Gossen.

Streissler briefly refers to Gossen in his paper "The Influence of
German Economics on the Work of Menger and Marshall" in CARL
MENGER AND HIS LEGACY IN ECONOMICS, p. 37. Streissler
says that an 1858 book by Julius Kautz is the only place he (Streissler)
knows of in the German literature where Gossen is mentioned, and that
it was from Kautz' book that Jevons learned of the existence of
Gossen's work. Perhaps someone else on the list can answer your
query more directly.
