Hello all,

If you haven't checked out "Humor in America" recently, you have missed
some great posts, including an excellent essay by Sharon McCoy on
"Politics, Mark Twain, and Blackface."

For today's post, I have created a poll in honor of this week's airing of
the Mark Twain Prize ceremony for Will Ferrell. In many years past, this
award has inspired discussion of who should win the prize. In this spirit,
you can vote on who you think should win the next Mark Twain Prize. I
listed nominees mentioned in past discussions of the prize on this forum.
Feel free to nominate people for future years in the comments and to
comment on the Will Ferrell show.

We are always looking for contributors to the webpage. In November, we are
focusing on politics and humor, with posts by M. Thomas Inge and Phil Nel,
as well as our contributing editors. In December and January, we are
focusing on pedagogy and humor.

These themes are general, and we will always be excited to post on other
subject--and we are willing to reprint pieces from your blog or from other
(non-copyrighted) material. For instance, Tom Inge's upcoming piece is
adapted from a commencement address.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Best,

Tracy Wuster
