Regarding Mark Twain's Nevada and California years, and at the risk of
being moderately self-serving, I am pleased to announce that _Mark Twain
at
the Buffalo Express_, edited by Joe McCullough and Janice
McIntire-Strasburg, is scheduled to be published by Northern Illinois
University Press in July. The edition includes numerous sketches that were
products of Twain's Western experience, several of which were revised and
incuded in _Innocents Abroad_ and _Roughing It_. The collection also
includes, in addition to all of Twain's signed writings for the _Express_,
37 unsigned editorials, covering topics from the Byron/Stowe controversy
to blatant abuses of the insanity plea.
