To My Devoted Friends and Supporters,
I apologize for the group email, but I just wanted to alert all of you to a
performance I'm giving at Joe's Pub at the Public Theater (425 Lafayette St.
in Manhattan) on Monday, June 7th at 7pm. The evening celebrates both Mark
Twain and my new Newport Classic CD, entitled Halley's Comet: Around the
Piano with Mark Twain & John Davis. Released one hundred years to the day
since Twain's death on April 21st, 1910, Halley's Comet additionally honors
the 175th anniversary of Twain's birth and the 125th anniversary of the
publication of his most influential book, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,
important Twain milestones also occurring in 2010. At Joe's Pub, I will
play pieces from the CD by Louis Moreau Gottschalk, Blind Tom, Blind Boone,
Ossip Gabrilowitsch, Felix Kraemer, and Ludwig van Beethoven, all with
connections to Twain, interspersed with readings of often hilarious,
sometimes appalling, and always fascinating quotations from Twain and his
contemporaries.

Hope to see many of you there. I'm particularly looking forward to hanging
out afterward with those who can make it.
Warmest regards,
John
